These terms govern your use of the SpendMind apps for iPhone and Android, the web app at app.spendmind.io and this website (together, “SpendMind”), published by West Side Software, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“we”). By using SpendMind, you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use SpendMind.
1. What SpendMind is
SpendMind helps you record your expenses and income, set budgets, track savings, debts and investments, and share a budget with your household. SpendMind is a tracking tool. It does not give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
2. Your account
- You can use the app on your phone without an account. An account is needed for sync, shared spaces, the web app and Premium.
- You must be at least 15 years old, or have a parent’s permission.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it.
- Your username is visible to the people you share a space with. Choose one that doesn’t impersonate anyone and isn’t offensive.
3. Free plan and Premium
Free plan. Free, with no time limit: unlimited expenses and income, budgets and alerts, reports, 15 categories, 10 recurring entries, 3 savings pockets, receipt photos, joining shared spaces and full data export.
Premium adds, among others: creating shared spaces, sync across devices, the web app, receipt scan, debts and investments, monthly insights, and unlimited categories, recurring entries and pockets. The current list is on our pricing page.
Receipt scan allowance. Each Premium subscription includes up to 100 receipt scans per calendar month, shared by the shared spaces it pays for. A member with their own Premium has their own 100. We may also apply a daily limit to prevent abuse. When the allowance is used, you can still save the expense with the photo attached.
4. Free trial
You can try Premium for 3 months, once per account. No payment details are needed and nothing is charged at the end: your account simply returns to the free plan, with all your data, unless you choose to subscribe.
5. Subscriptions and payment
- Premium is bought in the iPhone or Android app, through the App Store or Google Play. Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms.
- Subscriptions are monthly or yearly and renew automatically until you cancel them in your store account. You keep Premium until the end of the period already paid.
- The price is shown in the store before you confirm. A launch offer may make the first year of the yearly plan cheaper; it then renews at the regular price.
- We may change our prices. A change never applies to a period already paid, and the store informs you before it applies to a renewal.
- Right of withdrawal (EU). When you subscribe, you ask for Premium to start immediately and acknowledge that you thereby lose your 14-day right of withdrawal, to the extent the law provides. Refunds are requested from Apple or Google.
- The web app recognises your subscription but cannot sell it.
6. Shared spaces
- The person who creates a shared space (the owner) needs Premium. Members join with a free account and use the space’s Premium features inside it.
- The owner chooses the space’s currency and each member’s role. Members can see and, depending on their role, change the space’s records. Only share a space with people you trust.
- A member can leave at any time. The entries they recorded stay in the space’s history.
- If the owner’s Premium ends, the space becomes read-only until it is renewed. Nothing is deleted.
- A space holds up to 8 people, and an account can own up to 5 shared spaces.
7. Your content
Your records, notes and receipt photos remain yours. You allow us to store, process and display them only to provide SpendMind to you and to the members of the spaces you share them with. You can export them at any time from the app.
Don’t use SpendMind to store content that is illegal, or that you have no right to share.
8. Fair use
You agree not to: try to access other people’s data or our systems without permission; disrupt or overload SpendMind; get around the plan limits or the scan allowance; copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it; use SpendMind for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, after warning you when we can.
9. Automatic features
Receipt scan fills in fields using automated reading and an AI model, and monthly insights are written by an AI model from figures we compute. They can be wrong: check the amount, date and category before saving. Stock, fund and crypto prices and exchange rates come from third-party providers, can be delayed or incorrect, and are given for information only.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep SpendMind available, but we can’t guarantee it will run without interruption or error, for example during maintenance. The apps work offline, and data recorded on your phone syncs again when the connection returns.
SpendMind will evolve: we may add, change or remove features. If we remove a Premium feature you pay for, we’ll tell you in advance.
11. Our responsibility
We provide SpendMind with care. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions you make based on what SpendMind shows, for indirect losses, or for data lost because it was never synced or exported. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer, or our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited.
12. Closing your account
You can stop using SpendMind and delete your account at any time from the settings of the app or the web app. If you own a shared space other people still use, hand it over to a member or delete it first. Cancel your subscription in your store first: deleting the account doesn’t cancel it. See our privacy policy for what happens to your data.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll publish the new version here with its date and tell you in the app before an important change applies. If you disagree, you can stop using SpendMind and delete your account.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. If you have a problem, write to us first at [email protected]: we’ll try to find a solution. As a consumer, you can also turn for free to the consumer mediator CM2C. You keep the protection of the law of the country where you live, and you can go to the courts it designates.
